Senegal authorities establish hotlines to complain about road harassment

Authorities in Senegal announced hotline numbers that drivers can call when they are being harassed at checkpoints operated by various services along roads and highways. For complaints about police, drivers should call 33 842 28 74 or 33 842 28 74 17. For complaints about customs, drivers should call 800 40 44 44. And for complaints about gendarmes, drivers should call 800 00 20 20. Officials in Benin, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Mali and Togo have set up similar hotlines - a full list is available here.
