Hundreds of jobs will be created with the opening of a new apparel factory in Tema, Ghana. Established by Lucky1888Mills, a partnership between American and Pakistani textile companies, the factory is due to make its first shipment of hospital scrubs, lab coats, and chef's uniforms this fall to a Miami company. With Trade Hub technical assistance, Lucky1888Mills has been able to benefit from the American Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), which makes African exporters more competitive in the US market by eliminating import tariffs.
