Political and social stability has afforded Cameroon the opportunity to develop its agricultural sector and its transportation and petroleum industries. Agriculture remains the mainstay of the country’s economy, employing most of the workforce and producing a variety of commodities for export.
The Trade Hub supports an AGOA Trade Resource Center (ATRC) in Douala, which offers training to national customs officials and Cameroonian companies on the documentation required for exports throughout West Africa and to the U.S. under the Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA). The Hub has delivered capacity-building training to staff from the Douala ATRC, and we are finalizing a grant that will enable the center to provide trade intelligence, deliver trade and export development advisory services, and help companies understand market requirements and regulations.
