Bright Gowonu

The USAID Trade Hub-UEMOA-USAID ATP project 15th report on road harassment along primary trade corridors presents results of surveys on the numbers of checkpoints and delays and bribes drivers experienced from January to March 2011. The initiative began in 2006 in Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali, Senegal and Togo. In 2010, Cote d'Ivoire and Senegal joined and Benin and Niger will join in 2011. The Abidjan-Lagos Corridor Organization contributes its data on delays and bribery in a separate report published separately. The figure below shows, from worst (Cote d'Ivoire) to best (Ghana), how the countries ranked on bribery. The currency is CFA francs; US$1=450 FCFA.
